Device-Specific Menus

Menu Management
Device-Specific Menus
Load different iOS devices with their own unique menu, so each till only shows the categories its team needs.

Device-Specific Menus gives you the option to load different iOS devices with different menus which you may have at your venue.

For example, a restaurant which is split into a bar area and a food area would find Device-Specific Menus useful. Rather than crowding one extensive menu with various categories and items, this feature can segment menus, making them easier to digest and memorise for your serving staff.

It streamlines the serving process, meaning that those serving drinks at your bar will not have to scroll past Burgers, Pizzas and Salads to get to the Beers, Wines and Spirits categories, and vice versa.

Where it helps

  • Segment a large inventory into shorter menus your staff can memorise.

  • Run multiple stands or bars with overlapping menus from a single account.

  • Simplify reporting. Log into one account and see sales for every bar, rather than adding up figures from four separate accounts.

Step One: create the menu on the Dines Dashboard

  1. Head to your Dines Menu, which can be found on the panel at the left-hand side of the dashboard. On the taskbar at the top of the page you will see the Menus tab, which is where all of your created menus are stored.

  1. Click Menus, then New Menu. Then, name your menu, rank it (the higher the number you input, the lower it appears in your list of menus), and add a Description so you can identify what the menu contains.

On the tab panel above Menu Details, click Devices to assign devices to the menu, providing you have already set up devices in Settings > Operations > Devices. If you have not, you can assign menus on each iOS device instead, covered in Step Two below.

  1. On the same tab panel, click Categories to assign the categories relevant to this menu. For a Bar Menu, for example, you could link every category that contains beverages. Once finished, click Link.

  1. Click Save at the bottom of the page, and Step One is complete! The menu is ready to assign on your iOS device.

Please note: by default, every device shows the items and categories you see when you first click onto Menu Management, in the Overview section. You need to assign menus to make full use of Device-Specific Menus.

Step Two: apply the menu in the Dines app

  1. Open the Dines app and head to Settings, then tap Advanced Settings.

  2. Select Customise Menu, the second option, then select Assign a Specific Menu.

  1. Tap the menu you want to use. Navigate back to EPOS and your menu has been applied to this device. That's everything!

Changing or removing a device menu

To swap the menu on a device, follow Step Two again. To go back to the standard inventory, turn off the Assign a Specific Menu toggle.
